High Performance Greases, Oils, Anti Seize Pastes, Powders and MoS2 Brought To Atlanta By VCI & Lubricants
We offer powders, oils, greases, metalworking fluids, biobased lubricants (biodegradable lubricants), food grade lubricants, food grade additives and additives in general. Please click on the tabs below to explore our products.
Lubricant powders are dry and have some unique applications ranging from being used as additives for "wet lubricants", additives for plastics, dry lubrication in high dirt environments and can even be used to make special metal alloys or sintered metal. The most common ones are Graphite, MoS2, WS2 and PTFE.
Oils dissipate heat well from the lubricating point while providing good creep and wetting behaviour. Therefore oil lubrication is often used at high temperatures or high speeds of rotation. The most common mechanical elements that require oil lubrication are gears, chains, friction bearings, hydraulics and compressors.
Oil based lubricants can be based on mineral oils, synthetic hydrocarbons such as PAOs, esters, polyglycols and silicone oils. All of them are very different in their physical properties and chemical behaviour. When replacing lubricant oils you must be careful to evaluate that the base oils are compatible to ensure success.
When the mechanical element is not design to withold oil lubrication grease is used most likely. Greases are made of a base oil that is bound by a thickener. This ensures that the lubricant remains at the lubricating point. There it ensures permanently effective protection against friction and wear and seals the lubricating point against contaminants such as moisture and dust. Greases are often used at bearings, spindles, fittings, seals, guides and gears.
In addition to the compatibility of the base oils, the miscibility of the thickeners has to be checked when changing greases.
The most common thickners in our greases are Lithium Complex, lithium hidroxiestearate, Bentone, Calcium Sulfonate, Aluminium and Silicate.
Pastes basically have the same structure as greases, but the big difference is the share of solid lubricants is much higher. This makes them ideal for limit or mixed friction regimes of friction to ensures reliable lubrication and separation under the effects of extreme temperature, pressure and aggressive influences. Pastes are used for the correct assembly of screwed connections as well as the pressing fit of pins, bolts and other fastners.
Bonded coatings are solid lubricants (in most cases graphite, MoS2 or PTFE) that are placed in a binder with a solvent. Bonded Coatings have many unique applications from providing lifetime lubrication in difficult to access mechanical elements that work in a limit or mixed friction regime to regulating torque in threaded connections. These products provide a great solution to have powders attached strongly to metal surfaces in order to increase relubrication intervals.
Tribology is concerned wiht the scientific characterisation of friction, wear and lubrication and the development of technologies serving to optimise frictional processes.
A distinction is made between "tribomechanical" and "tribochemical" effects.
MoS2-powder technical microfine is used to improve the sliding properties of machine parts. For sliding properties improvement of machine parts, and precision machinery, especially for microfinished surfaces, incorporation in plastics, sealings, packages, sintered metals and improvement of sliding properties. Also for long-term and lifetime-lubrication. For more information visit our product specific website.

When oil lubrication is not possible or if a cooling function is not required, a lubricating grease is used usually. Greases are made of a base oil that is kept in place by a thickener or soap. This ensures that the lubricant remains at the mechanical part to effective protection against friction and wear and seals the lubricating point against external contaminants such as moisture and foreign matter. Greases are often used at rolling and friction bearings, spindles, fittings, seals, guides and gears. We don't usually recommend chain lubrication with them.

Chemola™ Desco Therm-O-Plate 220 plates onto metal surfaces to withstand heat, pressure and wear in corrosive environments. Chemola™ Desco Therm-O-Plate 220 is water repellent, chemically resistant and non-gumming. It features a synthetic, water-resistant base that will decompose at extreme temperatures, providing dry film lubrication.
Recommended Uses
Chemola™ Desco Therm-O-Plate 220 may be used on heavy, slow-speed slide applications. It is outstanding for journal and loose-tolerance bearings, but is not recommended for use with close-tolerance bearings where binding could occur due to plating on the metal surfaces. The bearings should not be over- packed as Chemola™ Desco Therm-O-Plate 220 works best as a thin film lubricant.
