What are VCI Emitters And Which One Should You Choose?

Emitters with VCI (vapor corrosion inhibitors) are devices with a rust inhibitor chemical embedded in their structure, designed to protect enclosed metal and metal parts from the degradation of rust. These are designed to protect for up to two years when they should be replaced by new units.

VCI Emitters can be foam-based, bio-fabric-based or emitter cups containing corrosion inhibitor powders. They can also have an adhesive back or not. Selection is based on a mix of criteria including: volume to protect, cost, dustiness and the desire to fix it to a wall of the enclosed volume that needs rust prevention. Reach out to us and will pick the right product for you.

Multi-Metal VCI Protection In A Long Lasting Compact Package

VpCI-132 Emitter

VCI foams and fabrics combine multi-metal VCI protection and desiccant action in one simple effective step. Use VCI pads, VCI foams, VCI capsules and VCI fabrics as stand alone devices in enclosed cabinets and cavities or to complement our VCI films surrounding large void air spaces. Simple, powerful Multi-Metal Protection:

  • Foams and Fabrics contain up to 10 times more VCI than papers and films
  • Fast emission and saturation allows quick shipments of pre served equipment
  • Available with static dissipative properties and in custom sizes and shapes
  • Lightweight allowing lower cost handling, transport, and storage Easy dosage using pre-measured units and sizes

VCI emitter foams are designed to protect products with large surface areas, to emit VCIs in shipping containers, and to protect products and equipment with large void areas. VCI foams also afford long-term protection for large export packages, crates and seagoing containers. The presence of Rust on circuit boards and electric components cause parasitic currents of electricity that cause components to fail before their usual design lifetime which presents reliability issues and increased maintenance cost. Our VCI emitters are the solution you need!

Corrosorber® Capsules

Sulfhidric Acid - Hydrogen Sulfide Adsorbing Capsules | Made in USA | Adhesive | Special To Protect Silver And Other Non Ferrous Metals | Electronics Protection | No Toxic | Copper Protection | For Oil And Gas Industry

Cortec Corrosorber

Corrosorber® absorbs hydrogen sulfide and other corrosive gases. Corrosorber® will not interfere with VpCI protection, but instead it will absorb the gases that cause corrosion.
Severe damage or failures occur due to the presence of these corrosive species. Corrosorber® absorbs hydrogen sulfide and volatile mercaptans, removing them from the atmosphere and eliminating the cause of some damage to metals.
The chemicals contained in Corrosorber® have been especially treated to change color from off-white to black as corrosive gases are trapped.
In addition, unlike other products on the market, Corrosorber® will not release the corrosive gases back into the atmosphere. The reaction is irreversible, eliminating any concern about post contamination. Corrosorber® is non-toxic and has no effect on the environment. It can be handled without safety equipment.
Install the Corrosorber® at the earliest possible time, before shipping or receiving if possible. Simply select a space within any enclosed device where corrosion protection would be useful, and attach with adhesive backing. Replace cup as soon as the container appears gray.

Desicant Pouches Plus VCI Protection | Made in USA | Economical | One per ft3 | Up To Two Years Of Protection | Non Toxic

Cortec Desicorr

Desicorr® VpCI® is a specially designed, two-sided pouch containing a unique combination of desiccant and Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibitor (VpCI®). Desicorr® VpCI® pouches are ideal for protecting packaged ferrous and non-ferrous metals from corrosion. Unlike conventional desiccants, the dual function of the Desicorr® VpCI® pouches reduces moisture in the air (desiccant action) and provides multi-metal protection (VpCI® action) within a package. In essence, the desiccant action allows the VpCI® to have free access to the surface of the metal, without competition from moisture on the metal surface.
Dessicorr® VpCI® Pouches are available in both windowed and non-windowed versions (NW). The windowed version contains some indicator spheres that will change color from yellow to green when the desiccant is fully spent.
Desicorr® VpCI® is designed to protect products, components, or assemblies when packaged in corrugated boxes, plastic wrap or bags, and wood or metal containers.

VpCI®-130 Series of VCI foam emitters

VCI Foam Emitters | Economical | Multi-metal | Up To Two Years Of Protection | Made in USA | Non Toxic | Various Sizes | Anti-static

VpCI-132

VpCI®-130 Series Foams are unique flexible packaging materials that combine VCI protection, and desiccant action; plus excellent antistatic capabilities all in one step! You can now eliminate expensive and messy rust preventatives with VpCI®-130 Series Foams. Parts protected are always ready for use; no degreasing or coating removal is required. Application of multifunctional materials such as VpCI®-130 Series Foams results in significant weight and labor savings. VpCI®-130 Series Foams contain approximately ten (10) times more VpCI® chemical per square foot (square meter) of substrate than the traditional VCI papers and other wrapping materials. This makes the protection of objects with large surface areas possible (i.e.: aluminum and steel coils). The unique combination of high and low vapor pressure VpCIs contained in VpCI®-130 Series Foams affords long-term protection for large export packages, crates, and seagoing containers.
Combine VpCI®-130 Foam with Cortec® VpCI®-125/126 film to create a highly effective VpCI® packaging solution.
VpCI®-130 Series Foam forms a strong protection as long as the enclosure remains sealed and there are no barriers between the metal surface and the VpCI® molecules. The placement of the foam is not important as long as it has access to the same air space as the metal to be protected. This product line is not intended to be used for cushioning purposes; excess pressure applied to the foam can wring the inhibitor from the substrate. In some situations this may leave a residue on the surface which will need to be removed with water or rubbing alcohol.
