Cortec’s VpCI® coated anticorrosion papers offer renewable, recyclable, and fully-repulpable corrosion protection. Cortec® VpCI® corrosion preventive papers are simple to use: Simply wrap or interleave your metal parts in VpCI® paper and fold the edges together so there is no free airflow. Use adhesive tape as needed to hold paper folds in place. VpCI® molecules in the paper coating vaporize and condense in a protective molecular layer on the surfaces of metal enclosed inside the paper packaging. When components are removed from the paper, they are dry and ready-to-use.

The "Razor Blade Test" is a quick laboratory test with a pass or fail rating — if corrosion exists after the set time frame, the product fails. The Razor Blade Test essentially tests the contact corrosion-inhibiting ability of a material. It is conducted on test coupons and on multiple types of metal to determine the ability of a packaging product to prevent rust by direct contact to a certain type of metal. It is done three times to test bits of sample from a large surface area so that it can also provide information on how even the distribution of the corrosion inhibitor is on the material being tested. The figure shows images of typical results for VpCI®-126 and VpCI®-146 against a control group (the control group is a plastic or paper with no corrosion prevention properties in direct contact with metal subject to this same test).
Second, Federal Standard 101c, the German VIA
Test, is used to determine if a corrosion-inhibiting
compound will protect a metal when the compound
is never in contact with the metal. For this test, the corrosion-inhibiting compound is placed in a glass
jar. A metal slug is placed in a rubber gasket
attached to the lid, so it is prevented from coming in
contact with the corrosion-inhibiting product. Also, the interior of the jar is previously saturated with moisture and the test subject is allowed time to "emit" the volatile corrosion inhibitors to the enclosed atmosphere. This
is shown in the top figure to the left of this text. The second figure shows typical results for VpCI®-146 or VpCI®-126 against a control group (the control group is a plastic or paper with no corrosion prevention properties made subject to this same test).
Once again the test is done three times out of different samples to ensure that the vapor phase rust prevention properties are evenly present through the area of the test subject.

Cortec® Corrosorber® VpCI® Paper is a tarnish inhibiting packaging paper for precious metals such as silver, gold and tin. One side of the paper has a coating that scavenges or seeks out H2S gas. When a significant amount of H2S gas has been absorbed by the paper, the paper will change color from light green to brown. The other side of the paper is a tarnish inhibitor that will protect up to two years or until the opposite side has changed color. Corrosorber® VpCI® Paper is a tarnish inhibiting packaging
paper specifically for precious metals such as silver, gold,
and tin. Corrosorber® VpCI® Paper is a unique product; one
side of the paper has a special coating that scavenges or
